Serving those in need…

I ran across these 2 videos and found it to be inspiring and heart warming.

Dinner for the Homeless…

Five Star waiter serving the homeless…

We have no idea how we can affect another’s life until we reach out and help others and touch their lives. The sad thing is that many homeless people were like us with jobs, a home, families, and were a success and something happened that placed them in the situation they are in today.

In our world today with the changing economy, the loss of jobs, the high cost of buying groceries, utilities going up, and many more things that have an affect on our finances, I believe that if the circumstances were just right it could happen to any one of us. We never know what tomorrow holds and how close we may be to losing everything we have known and been secure in. Our government is bent on destroying this country and sending us all into the poor house – this is becoming more of a reality than ever before.

God requires that we serve others. In His Word we find in John 13:12-14: “When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”

Luke 6:38: “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Proverbs 19:17: “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”

Matthew 25:35-40 “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?”

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

John 13:4-5 “Rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”

1 John 3:17-18 “But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

Romans 15:1 “We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”

Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

God wants us to serve others with a glad heart and without the mind set of getting something in return. To some it may seem like a drudgery or makes you uncomfortable, but I believe if you actually step outside of your comfort zone you will find it can be highly rewarding! Think of ways you can help those in need in your own neighborhood, community, or local soup kitchen and allow God to work through you to serve and be a blessing to someone else!
