The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman by Carole Brown

This book written by Carole Brown kept me interested throughout and it was very difficult to lay it down.

Caralynne Hayman is angry and bitter over the abuse and death of her 11-yr-old daughter at the hands of a radical religious cult – The Children of Righteous Cain. When her husband, who is one of the co-founders suffers a massive heart attack, she allows him to die. Caralynne has had enough of the control and abuse she has received at the hands of her husband and others in the group. She begins to rebel and not care about what the elders say or think of her.

She believes no one will learn of her secret, until a former friend Dayne McFarland returns as the pastor and learns the truth about the cult. He begins to investigate and his rekindled friendship with Caralynne lead them to eventually have a confrontation with the leaders of the cult. It keeps you wondering what will happen next! Step into the world of a cult and see just how manipulative, deceptive, and abusive they become in order to control the people who join the cult. Learn how they uncover this cult and reveal its dark secrets and lies and the ages of the children they begin to indoctrinate into their organization.

These kinds of things do happen in our world today. I have met someone who was in a cult and he still has issues to this day from the mess they made of his life.

A truly great story of someones life in a cult. A great book and one that keeps you intrigued to the end!

Fried Apples

This is a recipe I like to make for a quick dessert served over vanilla ice cream. I love apple recipes!!

Ingredients:
6 Granny Smith green apples (I use these because they are a firm apple)
1 stick of margarine
1 cup of brown sugar
Cinnamon and Nutmeg to spice

I cut the apples in small, bite size pieces. I sprinkle them with a little white sugar to start to sweeten them before frying and toss to get some sugar on each piece. I put the 1 stick of margarine in a fry pan on the stove and allow it to melt completely and then I add the brown sugar and allow it to somewhat mix into the butter in the pan. I pour the apple pieces into the pan and sprinkle the cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples to my liking and then toss with the wet ingredients. I put a lid on it and keep the heat at medium heat, maybe a little less. Do not let the apples burn – stir occasionally. Once the apples have shrunk down and are easy to cut you can serve them over a dip of ice cream or add cool whip to the top of them in a bowl. They keep well in the frig also and can be reheated and taste wonderful the next day as well.

It makes the whole house smell great and it is a quick make ahead recipe. Serves 4.
